Leicester Universities Society of Change Ringers
The Leicester Universities Society of Change Ringers (LUSCR) is a society for students, staff, and alumni of either of the universities in Leicester: University of Leicester and De Montfort University. The society has existed for many years, but had too few students to exist from 2004, until 2025 when it was restarted. Please reach out to find out when we are ringing!
We are a friendly group who focusses on progressing our student ringers using the help of our large alumni base, and we hope to create a fun atmosphere that breeds friendships and long-lasting memories. We hope to have many social events to facilitate this!
Ringing is weekly at the start of the academic year, potentially becoming bi-weekly depending on interest and uptake. It will take place at a range of towers but mainly be based between St Mary de Castro (10 bells) in the city centre, and St Peter’s in Oadby (8 bells). We also have a set of society owned handbells for anyone who may be interested in change ringing in hand.
We have ART 1 accredited teachers available to teach anyone who wants to give ringing a go, so please do reach out if you are interested in learning to ring! If you decide you want to carry on then you will be most welcome to keep learning with us, and if not then you’ve had a go at something unique.
We hope to see you soon!
